Contemporary Dance: From beginners to advanced, from slow to fast, from easy to difficult.

The classes are on Sundays from 17.30 to 19.00 and have 2 parts:

PART 1. WARMING UP AND TECHNIQUE (17.30 - 18.15).
LEVEL: Open to everyone. Included BEGINNERS.
CONTENTS: Pilates math and basic ballet exercises to awaken proprioception, find alignment, strengthening and stretching the body. We move around the floor in an easy and organic way, following impulses and gravity, and in a standing position coordinating legs and torso, inspired by music.

PART 2. SEQUENCES: (18.20 - 19.00):
LEVEL: Recommended to people with some DANCE EXPERIENCE.
CONTENTS: The combinations of movement become more complex by speeding upp, moving at all levels of space, from the floor to the standing position, including turns, jumps, and performing the sequences in rhythmic patterns.

INNEHÅLL: Träning på golvet, i medelnivå, och stående, genom olika rörelse kombinationer. Kroppkontakts övningar. Koreografier. Cipriano Calonico kommer att musikalisera koreografier och spela levande musik för att stimulera olika texturer och känningar. I varje lektion leker vi med hastighet för att utmana vår koordination och minne.



Nidia Martínez Barbieri: was born in La Plata, Argentina, and lives in Malmö since 2013. She is graduated from Escuela de Danzas de La Plata and works with Contemporary dance since 2000, as a dancer, choreographer and teacher. In 2006 became Pilates instructor. Her work included in the last years solo pieces, as well as interdisciplinary projects with musicians, and performances in collaboration with freelance dancers and choreographers from Malmö and from abroad. She is a member of Danscentrum Syd and Rörelsen Koreografer i Skåne. Since 2009 she practices Argentinian tango. Within this dance style she has the aim to share her experiences about body awareness and movement with other tango practitioners, as well as to find her own expression.



Cipriano Calonico: was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and lives in Malmö since 2006. He is a musician who perfoms tango as a singer and guitar player but also works with electronic and experimental music. For some years his main objective with tango has been to rediscover traditional aspects of the genre as well as focusing on the contemporary developments of this music.

Objective: to have technical tools to dance between the three levels of the space in a relaxed way and with fluidity. 
Activities: at the beginning of the course students will learn different movement phrases, having time to explore how to manage the weight, which parts of the body are the best to go to the floor, to achieve a physical and technical comprehension. Progressively, the students will expand the physical capacity to move through the space, going to and coming from the floor to high level, adding velocity and complexity to the movement combinations.

EXPERIMENTATION IN CONTEMPORARY DANCE:
TRAINING+CREATION+PERFORMANCE

OBJECTIVES:
- to dance between the three levels of the space in a relaxed way and with fluidity
- to have a creative and experimental process
- to create a short piece to be performed at the end of the course.

CONTENTS:
- Training: based on Flying Low technique.
- Improvisation: tasks to explore new movements with elements of techniques such us Contact Improvisation;
- Composition: selection of movement material; exploration of composition tasks such us Theme and Variation.
- Performance: as a result the students will perform their productions.

TARGET PUBLIC:
The workshop is open to people of every age (students and professionals), who have at least 2 years of dance training or other kind of body work (yoga, modern, contemporary, contact improvisation, ballet, etc) and have an interest in creation.

ABOUT THIS COURSE:
We are going to work to develop the expressive corporal capacity of each person, working with the connection between the members of the group, the confidence between them to be open to create. The difference between each person, each body, each experience of life will be used for the creative process. Each student will get support and feedback from the teacher to create his or her own works (in solos, duets, or group constellations).
